The Central Oklahoma Music Teachers Association offers many events for our students. All events are open to students who have a teacher who is a member of COMTA. There are also many events offered to our students through the Oklahoma Music Teachers Association. The information regarding the OMTA events can be found on the OMTA website. To find the specific information and entry forms for each local event, click on the event title in the drop-down menu under Events. A brief description of each event can be found below:



  • COMTA Honors Recital - (February) this recital provides teachers with the opportunity to recognize 1 or 2 students for outstanding work in their studio. These students perform in a recital along with students from other studios.

  • Kamp Keyboard Auditions - (April) these auditions are the first step to enrolling in Kamp Keyboard. Students will perform 1 memorized repertoire piece for a panel of two judges. The top 3 performers in each division will receive a tuition credit towards their Kamp Keyboard tuition. 

  • COMTA Solo & Ensemble Festival - (May) this festival provides students with an opportunity to perform 1 or 2 memorized repertoire pieces for a judge. These students will receive a written critique, a numeric score and a festival ribbon. Students can also enter into the ensemble division providing a venue for duets or trios to play for a judge. This event also offers a festival t-shirt for students to purchase and then wear to the event. 

  • Kamp Keyboard - (July) this is a week-long day camp open to students in 6th-11th grade.  This Kamp provides the opportunity for students to spend the week together learning music theory, music history, leadsheet reading and improvisation skills. This Kamp provides students performance opporutnities through master classes, clavinova ensembles, handbell enssembles and a STOMP ensemble. Campers also have  more traditional camp activities including fishing, canoeing, archery, swimming and much more. 

  • Clavinova Ensemble Adventures - (August-September) this two-month long adventure is an ensemble event. Students from multiple students will be placed in ensemble classes based on age and level. These classes will rehearse on Saturdays throughout August and September. The event culminates in mid-September with a recital in which all ensembles will perform their pieces. 

  • December Clavinova Festival - (December) this event is sponsored through Larsen Music and provides an opportunity for students to orchestrate a solo on a Clavinova and then perform their piece in a recital setting.

  • December Clavinova Ensemble Festival - (December) this event in in conjunction with the December Clavinova Festival. This event provides students with the opportunity to learn, rehearse and perform an ensemble piece on the Clavinova.
